Sarah + Jon + Wedding = AMAZINGLY Fun Night-Out

Matt and I just attended, what we think will be our last “Friend Wedding”.  In our 7 and a half years of marriage we’ve attended quite a few and it feels weird to know that this season of our life is coming to a close… and let me tell ya, Sarah and Jon’s wedding and reception this past Saturday sent us out with a bang.  I attended college at WSU with Sarah, where we were sorority sisters and often classmates, as we shared our major of Communication.  Sarah is an easy person to adore – she is cheerful, quirky, and entertaining to be around.  I remember many times when we would ‘ponder’ goofy things, discuss feeding squirrels, and laugh till our cheeks hurt.  Anyway, she is VERY organized and VERY detail-oriented … thus, planned a wedding that was nothing less than PERFECTION.

I feel like I should note, that this was the first time Matt and I had been ‘out’ together, without kids, in a very. long. time.  Okay, onward.

My phone’s little navigation lady easily directed us to the wedding location, where we were so gladly welcomed by another wonderful college friend, Alicia and her husband, Reggie.  We joined up with my other ‘sorority girls’, Dana and Kari, Kari’s husband, Ryan, and Tiff’s husband, Nik (Tiff was in the wedding… see her down there, standing by Sarah?? ).

The Second Shooter -up-close and personal! The Vows The Rings Newlyweds! Tiff and her groomsman After the wedding ceremony (during which I was very entertained by the team of photographers),  we were served drinks and appetizers during cocktail hour and the hall was magically transformed into the reception area.  Having bit-sized pieces of deliciousness was a first for us…

(Nice picture, taken by Matt of Dana, Kari, Alicia and me, aided by the beautiful natural light filtering in through the huge window behind him)

Oct-02-2010_7Sarah's-Weddin … and it was also the first reception I’ve attended at which I was allowed to pick my entre (which was steak!) and that our table’s server removed the unused utensils after their ‘course’ was completed.  We had assigned seats (another first) which were carefully organized and separated into professional football teams (we were the New York Giants).  Remember, I said Sarah was detail-oriented!   Between salads, drinks, and wonderful food, we visited, caught caught up, laughed a lot and planned a trip to Mexico to celebrate our upcoming 30th birthdays… productive evening, to say the least!

(and it got darker, and therefore harder to take photos, but I was determined!  And I actually love this one of Dana…)

Oct-02-2010_8Sarah's-WeddinI sat there, at the table, thoroughly enjoying myself while still having one hand on 2 phones (mine and Dana’s) incase my mom called with a problem with the boys.  But alas, at 8:00pm the amazing woman called and said all the boys were sleeping… and at that point, I relaxed a little bit more and welcomed another glass of wine.

(… caught the photographer’s flash as I was trying to capture Sarah and Jon at the head ‘Seahawks Table’…)FLASH!As if the meal and prime treatment was enough, we were entertained by traditional Chinese Dragon dancers (not sure if that is the technical name for them)… yet another ‘wedding first’.  DragondancersOct-02-2010_0Sarah's-Weddin

I am pretty sure Matt took this one …

Alicia, Dana, KariWhen the food was cleared and we were left with drinks and dancing, more visiting ensued for Matt, Reggie, Ryan, and Nik outside over beer and cigars… and what did they talk about?  The Law (Ryan is a lawyer) and discrimination and liability suits.  Fun. But I did get to pick Ryan’s brain about starting a business, so that was fun for me.  :)

And this will tell you just what a blast this wedding reception was…

(check out the guy in the back!  and I was still refusing to turn on my flash…)

Oct-02-2010_11Sarah's-Weddi We (Um, Matt) danced the night away and we closed down the place.  In the end we did the DG dance to Sweet Home Alabama, embarrassed ourselves by reciting every word to ‘Baby Got Back’, kissed the air with Prince, snuggled up for a few slow-dances, and capped it off with Matt’s seal of approval for a GOOD TIME… the splits.  He did the splits.  Popped up and the rest was a blur for me because I was laughing too hard. Oh, man… how I love my husband.

But then he violated my camera by switching it to Auto and using the flash… for the first time…

Oh well.  The memory is captured and that’s what matters… red-eye, shiny cheekbones, and all.

This was the fancy-pansiest night out we’ve possibly ever had and it was SUCH a blessing to share it with these girls…

And congratulations to Sarah and Jon… thank you for the amazing night!

What a wonderful night...and I love that I just got to relive it thru your blog! Now that the weddings are over we need to plan "events" and trips so these friendships do not fade. I love you all! Thanks Lace!!

Just look at those beautiful smiles! I agree with Alicia...it'd be a shame to let your friendships fade.
