I don’t know why I don’t rely on books more for calming these boys down. In order to distract Cooper last night, from distracting Gage while he took 45 minutes to finish his dinner, I suggested he look at books. We have a box full of them in the living room that probably haven’t been looked at in months. For once that day, Cooper actually minded me and pulled every last book out onto the floor. And when Gage was done eating (finally), he joined him…
They actually sat quietly sorting through page after page of some familiar books and some less visited…
They shared pictures of interest…
And Gage even ‘read’ The Hungry, Hungry Caterpillar to a very intent Cooper…
Are these actually my children??
Oh, wait. Yes, there they are! … they are mine!… because they are boys, nice quiet reading time inevitably ends up as this…
Actually, a half-hour of peaceful time ending like this doesn’t surprise or disappoint me one bit, because if it didn’t happen, they wouldn’t be mine…
And I know that eventually, they flutter back to being angels once more (thankfully, this time it was before someone got hurt)…
Reading… good for the mind, relationship, soul, sanity, and camera practice.
